Positive lifeline flows in the blood of the teachers and Monochetna, has overcome all difficulties to train the teachers of the mainstream schools. Monochetna believes in creating an all-encompassing environment along the lines of RTE ACT 2009.

“We are culturally very exclusive in nature. We are not inclusive, we only think of some English medium schools in Calcutta. There is a much larger universe beyond the realm of 20 elite English medium schools in Calcutta. We do not think beyond that. Inclusion must come from the heart. My child not coming first is a matter of acceptance, what is most important is to have a child with values and not just a child who is an engineer or a doctor or whatever. It is a kind of moral degradation we are seeing in our society because we have stopped telling our children to ‘be a good human being’, we keep on telling them you have to score good marks and come up with 98%. I never force my daughter to study because my mother never did that to me. I know that if I can become successful in some way, it is not necessary be a brilliant academic. There are many brilliant academics who have not achieved anything in life.” Said Ms. Ananya Chakraborty (Chairperson of West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights).

“It is important to be responsible parents. Parents fight in front of their children. Domestic violence creates a terrible impact on kids and affects their studies. It is a kind of scar on the children. You have to be responsible parents. You know there are two professions where you do not need any qualification; one is a politician and another one is to be a parent. Parenting is an art, which is very very important to learn.” She added

Prof. Dr. Anuttama Banerjee narrated two case histories and stated that it is we, who are making it difficult for the child to be who he or she is. We are not inclusive in our state of mind. We have a typical tendency to rush through. If we do not accept the children for who they are, and try to LABEL their identity with their ability and disability, there is a problem.”

Actor Barun Chanda focussed on how his mother brought him up and his elder brother together without any discrimination. He feels that this is what is lacking in the present society. Parents are not ready to learn, they feel that they know everything and can guide anyone accordingly. This is the real problem with us.
