Metro Railway is planning to increase the number of trains on the weekends to meet the rush of commuters. Due to the dreadful incident of Majherhat bridge collapsing a few days’ back numbers of commuters have increased by almost 50,000. Most of these commuters are from Behala who are availing metro after the bridge collapse.
Usually, 224 trains run on Saturdays, but now the number of services will increase to 250. On Sunday usually, 110 number of trains run, which will go up to 136.
According to the metro authorities, the main problem will arise on weekdays when in spite of 300 metro services commuters complain of over-crowding and discomfort.
