Assamese singer Angarg Papon Mahanta-popularly known as Papon has landed himself into controversy. A Supreme Court advocate has filed a complaint against the Barfi singer for “Inappropriately” kissing a minor contestant in a video, which was posted in his Facebook page.
Apart from Papon , the “Voice India Kids” show is judged by music composer Himesh Reshamiya and Palak Mucchal. A Supreme Court advocate Runa Bhuyan has filed a complaint against the singer to National commission for Protection of Child Rights. According to Bhuyan it is an “inappropriate” act of showing affection to the minor contestant (age 15).
However Papon's manager Partha Gogoi said, “This act was not meant to hurt the sentiment of any individual and it is certainly not wrong in any manner.” When asked will they omit the video from papon's page, Gogoi added, “There is no reason to drag this matter and portray in a negative manner in-front of the media. There is no reason to pull down the video from the official page of Papon.” stating the whole act as “sexually wrong”. Advocate Runa launched complaint against singer Papon for defaming the child artist in the popular reality show. She even stated, “I am literally shocked to see the behaviour of Angarag Papon Mahanta towards a minor girl, where he is seen applying colour on a minor girl and inappropriately kissing her. On seeing the video, I am seriously concerned regarding the safety and security of minor girls participating in reality shows across India.”
