Maruti Suzuki has launched the fourth-generation Swift in the Indian market, boasting changes in design and features and enhanced safety for customers. The new Swift comes equipped with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, promising improved performance.
Retaining the iconic Swift design, the new model introduces significant updates such as a new front bumper, a redesigned radiator grille, headlights, and fog lights. Additionally, the rear door handles now sit in their conventional positions. Beyond aesthetics, the new Swift offers new alloy wheel designs, C-shaped patterns, and LED tail lamps. The vehicle will be available in nine colour options, including two new shades of blue and red.
The premium feel continues inside the car with a large 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, integrated into the new textured dashboard. Other interior upgrades include new fabric seats, central air conditioning vents, new HVAC controls, and a 4.2-inch digital MID with an updated analogue cluster, exclusively available in the top-spec Swift ZXI+ variant. Safety features include six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, rear parking sensors, and standard safety kits like EBD, ESC, and ABS, with hill start assist available only in automatic variants.
Under the hood, the new Swift offers a 1.2-litre Z series engine mated with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox, producing 82 hp and 112 Nm of torque.
Competing head-on with rivals, the initial prices for the new Swift start slightly higher compared to its competitors. Tata Tiago and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, its main rivals, have ex-showroom prices starting from ₹5.65 lakhs and ₹5.92 lakhs, respectively.
