Paris Olympics 2024: Manu Bhaker became the first woman shooter to win an Olympics medal in India

On the second day of the Paris Olympics, India won a bronze medal. After almost 12 years a medal has come from a shooting game. A 21-year-old shooter, Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal as India's first female shooter.

Last time at the Tokyo Olympics, she couldn't even complete the qualification round, because her gun malfunctioned. She returned with tears in her eyes. But after that, in three years, she has become mentally stronger and more proficient in her game. As a result, she won the first medal for the 2024 Olympics and made millions of Indians proud.

On Saturday, Manu Bhaker finished third in the qualification round. On the final day, she also finished in the same position. Before the last shot, she was in second place. But in the final shot, she scored 10.3 while her Chinese competitor scored 10.5, which put China ahead, and Manu won the bronze medal.  She had a tough competition with her rivals from South Korea and China. Despite missing the silver by just 0.1, she is optimistic about her success.

On the third day of the Olympics, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjit Singh will participate in the mixed event qualification for the 10-meter air pistol event. After that qualified teams from this mixed team event will go to the medal round. After winning this year's first medals, Indians are hopeful.
