Tourists will soon have the option of clubbing two or more beach destinations if they are planning a visit to Bengal’s Mandarmani coastal area. Within six months, when the Digha-Mandarmani Marine Drive, formally known as the Saikat Sarani, is opened for the visitors, people would be able to access Digha, Sankarpur, Tajpur and Mandarmani at one go. Additionally, the distance between Digha and Mandarmani will be reduced by 12 Km. The tourists are able to target only one of the four destinations during the visit because the present connector between Digha and Mandarmani is a roundabout route along NH-116B. Travelling by bus from Digha, tourists have to get off at Chaulkhola and board smaller modes of transport to reach Mandarmani. Tajpur and Sankarpur lie between the stretch of Digha and Mandarmani, accessible by autos or totos. This project is in line with the vision of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, and soon bridges would be constructed at Nayakali Mandir, Jalda and Saulat.
