Chariots have been decorated, the stage is set, the organization is ready and the place is once again decked up to welcome Lord Jagannath. One of the biggest and renowned festivals of India is about to start- Rathyatra. The Mayapur Iskcon authorities organize a carnival on the occasion of Rathyatra every year. Well, this year the festival will start from 14 and extend till 21st July. The carnival is organized to the ground of ‘Sri Prabhupad ghat’.
“A carnival is being set up around the Gundicha temple where Prasad stalls, games; roller coaster rides will be available for devotees and visitors. Local and international devotees will perform kirtans and bhajans round the clock during the period”, the spokesperson added. The authorities of Isckon are expecting an average of 1 lakh footfall on the inaugural day.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal has sent her ‘heartiest greetings and best wishes’ to the chairman of Iskcon’s Rath Yatra committee Sri Alay Govinda Das. The devotees of the iskon believe that anyone who gets the opportunity to pull the cart, shall be bestowed with blessings. For years it has been a practice people irrespective of their religious faith and identities turn up in large numbers to get a glance of Lord Jagannath. A spokesperson of Iskcon said, “At present, more than 100 devotees have been toiling night and day to complete the preparations. The carts are being prepared with colorful clothes, flowers, garlands, flags, lamps”.
