On Tuesday five districts of West Bengal felt the moderate tremor. The earthquake hit Hooghly district at 6.33pm in the evening. Measuring 5 on the Richter scale it did not cause any loss of life or property. The depth of the earthquake was only 10kilometres and the epicenter was in Hooghly district. Jhargram, Bankura districts, West Midnapore and East Midnapore also felt its impact. Earlier on 24th August Andaman and Nicobar Islands faced a 5.5 magnitude of the earthquake.
