Eastern Railways sets its sights on Madhyamgram station! Renovation is underway at this station. Madhyamgram stands out as one of the crucial stations in the Sealdah Division. It's a bustling railway hub in the city, conveniently located near the airport. Consequently, numerous passengers commute through this station daily. Furthermore, with metro services expanding in its vicinity, footfall is expected to increase even more.
It's been reported that railway authorities have already initiated work at this station. In alignment with the Amrit Bharat Station Redevelopment Project, efforts are intensifying to modernise and upgrade Madhyamgram Station. This initiative is part of Indian Railways' endeavour to revamp several identified stations across its network. As a result of these efforts, passengers can anticipate improved amenities and overall infrastructure.
Additionally, it's been disclosed that a total budget of ₹13.27 crore has been allocated for the renovation of this Madhyamgram station.
The Madhyamgram station in the Sealdah-Bongaon section emerges as a significant transportation hub in Kolkata, being situated close to both the city and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. It serves as a vital transit point, ensuring convenient connectivity for all local residents. Hence, ensuring enhanced connectivity for passengers is paramount.
Further details reveal that enhancements will encompass improvements in existing facilities, including circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, benches, lighting, and fans, among others. Moreover, the station will feature standard signage, platforms constructed with granite, concourse area upgrades, solar panels for energy conservation, signage, and PA (public announcement) systems.
Mr. Kaushik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railways, has articulated that post-completion, the revamped Madhyamgram station will boast state-of-the-art facilities, promising passengers an extensively enhanced travel experience. This endeavour underscores their commitment to modernising railway infrastructure and ensuring seamless connectivity across the region.
