Kolkata: There is a lot happening beyond the written word. They say "sixth the sign, but seventh the better". Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet (TSKLM) is back with its seventh edition starting from January 22 to 27, 2018. It is a five days affair between the Booklovers and their literature. And this time, there's a divine dimension, too - it begins on Saraswati Puja!
Kalam 2018 will be held at the marble monument at Victoria Memorial Hall. Get hitched with your passion to the biggest literary carnival of the city. We bring you 7 reasons for the 7th session to look forward to this auspicious momentum.
1. Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh: He who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. He is the founder of Gramin Bank and a gold medalist from United States. It is to be heard that Yunus was on the Kalam wish list for years. He will be seen discussing about his new book "A World of Three Zeroes” and “the future of microfinance with Subroto Bagchi.
Timing: January 22, 4.30 pm.
2. The guest of honour is sorted: The living legend to make his Kalam Debut Poet-lyricist Gulzar Shaab. He will be speaking and discussing about his new book depicted both in Hindi and English translation named as “Do Log"/ "Two people". At age 84, this is his first novel.
Timing: January 23, 6:00pm.
3. History and its perks: Are you an avid or an offbeat history buff? If so, here is a session you dare not miss. Aanchal Malhotra is well known for her pictures at Instagram. In her insta account one can see the pictures of Peoples affected by Partition and their memoranda. She will talk about her book "Remnants of a Separation: A History of the Partition through Material Memory". She will talk about 1947 partition to be re-looked over the last 70 years. Yes, don't say no more. We understand your feeling.

4. The Mythology hoarder: Famous Mythologist and prolific writer Devdutt Pattanaik who is quite famous for his write ups about mythological characters will talk about the renewed interest in the stories of India’s ancient texts. Just one more advice- Before heading to the discussion do look for his 2009 TED talk.

5. This one is for movie lovers. Don't get sad. This one is for those who are in search of some peep talk stories. Nandita Das and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be here in Kolkata talking about their upcoming movie — a biopic on Manto. Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore along with Daughter Soha Ali Khan will be there. A father-daughter chat is expected from actor-director Konkona Sensharma taking the stage with dad Mukul Sharma.

6. Twist of taste: The spoken word performances shall be done. Kalam will witness Indian-Canadian poet Rupi Kaur and Tishani Joshi from Chennai as well. List of the brilliants includes Adrian Levy and Sunetra Choudhury as they talk about crime, punishment and scintillating sensational news stories.

7. Let’s include the kids: With everything going on, the children's meet will be hosted as well. Julia and Malcolm Donaldson will be inaugurating the session for kids. Ruskin Bond will be present too.
