The Meteorological Department of Kolkata predicts that a temperature drop would take place in the next 48 hours. The clouds which had covered the city previously due to a north-south low atmospheric low pressure extending from Uttar Pradesh-Bihar to Chhattisgarh was responsible for the temperature rise. However, with the clouds getting cleared the north-westerly windwill come back and bring down the temperature of the city. The minimum temperature of Kolkata could slide down to 13 degree Celsius. G K Das, Director of Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) said, “The trough has now moved towards Sikkim and the path is clear once again for the chilly north-westerly to return. It has started blowing in and should pull the mercury down to 15-16 degrees by Tuesday. It could continue to slide by a couple of degrees more by the middle of the week”.
