This year the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will legislate changing rooms at four Ghats in the city, which are Takta Ghat, Doi Ghat, Gwalior Ghat, and Baje Kadamtala Ghat. These ghats usually gather an intense crowd during Chhat Puja.
Municipal Commissioner, Khalil Ahmed held a preliminary meeting on Friday afternoon where they took the decision. They will also provide an extra 1-hour water supply in the morning for the day after chhat puja, they will arrange amenities for other 33 ghats as well, where the puja can be performed this year.
A senior KMC official present in the meeting said, "There have been certain restrictions imposed by the National Green Tribunal in connection with the pollution check during the Puja. We will cater to the guidelines while making the arrangements."
