To enliven the spirit of excitement, cricket enthusiasts can mark their dates to catch the glimpse of their much- awaited corporate cricket day and night tournament, Kolkata Premier League Season 2 at New Town Kolkata Development Association Cricket Stadium (NKDA). Starting from 17th March onwards the cricket match of 10 overs is to be played with white leather balls of IPL standard every weekend to 1st April from 10 am to 11 pm with 24 teams of nine players in each team. Powerchord Entertainment and Pan India Sports in association with NKDA has announced about this mega tournament at the Captain’s meet held in a city 4-star hotel recently not only for the sake of entertainment but also for a noble cause of helping the tiger-affected victims of Sundarban through an NGO called, ‘Bondhu’ with whom KPL has been associated with. Post KPL the participants are said to be visiting the Satjelia village in Sundarban to witness the conditions of the families who have been suffering from the nightmare of losing their beloved.
The participants of this cricket tournament including several corporate houses, clubs, housing complexes like Century ply, NKDA, Greenwoods, Highland park, Ideal enclave, Mavericks, Mohan motors, UFC XI, Pride plaza hotel, Uniworld, Titan, United sporting, UTD-e-services, X-man, Canvas, Raj constructions are set to get ready for the thrill and their sportsmanship gets tripled when they are united to stand for the distressed lying in the Sundarbans.
Mr. Roopal Kabiraj, Organiser & Director of Powerchord Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. said, “This is a noble initiative and CSR activity as KPL has been associated with an NGO working with the various social activities and tiger affected victims of Sundarban. The city can expect best of the sports tournament in future. We are also coming up with a very high end football tournament at NKDA football ground in the month of July.”
With the unveil of the theme song, the celebrities, corporates, team captains and various media personnel gathered in the pride moment unveiling the KPL teams jersey. The opening ceremony including music, dance, DJ, cheerleaders are the other attractions is expected to witness huge footfalls of top tollywood celebs with sponsors of top corporate companies scheduled to be held on 17th march from 12 noon onwards. The semi finals and finals will be on 1st April.
To grace the occasion the chief guest of KPL, Ashok Malhotra, former Indian cricketer informs, “This is a great initiative and my best wishes are there with KPL. The city of joy requires such great tournaments like KPL where participants can enjoy good quality cricket of international standards. This will take the game of cricket forward in Bengal.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gautam Banerjee, Founder and Organiser, Pan India Group said, “Kolkata Premier League Season 2 will give the participants a chance to showcase their skill in front of media, mass and celebrities. Pan India Sports and Powerchord Entertainment in association with NKDA will organise many such events to promote sports in New Town and Kolkata.”
