The government of West Bengal is always coming up with strategies for the benefit of the citizens. Priority plan for the buses is another such plan for Kolkatans. It was long back, when the traffic forces encouraged the concept of lane driving among the bus drivers, but that went in vain.
The new system offers the buses and the autos the advantage of leading 100 meters than the other private and public transports. According to Deputy Commissioner Traffic, “When the buses and auto drivers will be knowing that a particular lane is there to give them the priority, then they will definitely follow the rule. This will reduce the chances of lane jumping by the buses.”
Initially, the project is implemented in Deshapriya Park, South Kolkata. But according to the officials if this project works then it is going to attract a lot of commuters. Then eventually it can be implemented across some of the city’s major crossings.
