Mayor Firad Hakim held a meeting on Monday where he addressed some senior officials from KMC to take responsibilities of thorough and round the year maintenance of all the important and major roads of the city. The arterial roads that were maintained by state agencies earlier will also be taken over by the civic body. The new mayor has said that he wants to give relief to the citizens from bad roads. The takeover of the maintenance by KMC has reportedly opened a new chapter for the maintenance of the roads. The departments that were to shoulder the responsibility of repairmen did not do their job properly and KMC was handed over this responsibility before Durga puja. Owing to time constraint they could not do the full repairmen but then they have extensive measure to do so.
