Ace Film director Satyajit Ray’s iconic creation ‘Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne’ has been selected as the opening film for this year’s Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). This will be the 24th year of KIFF, which will embark its journey from 10th November. The winter film carnival will continue till 17th November, Saturday.
Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, the fantasy musical-drama based on author Upendra Kishore Roy Chowdhury’s short story which was released in 1969. The movie has also been considered as one of the masterpieces directed by Ray. However, KIFF started its journey in 1995 and considered to be the second most prestigious film event in India.
