Food is good, but when you have an empty stomach there are a few things which you should totally avoid as it might take a toll on your health along with the digestive system.
#1 Bananas – Though bananas are good for your diet, taking bananas on an empty stomach is not at all recommended as banana contains high amount of potassium and magnesium which can lead to potential imbalance in the amount of magnesium and potassium that a body should ideally contain. Consuming banana on empty stomach is a perfect example of having wrong food at the wrong time.
#2 Tea and Coffee – Drinking tea or coffee on an empty stomach can lead to acidity which causes indigestion and heartburn. It even reduces bile and acids and reduces the secretion of gastric juices thus leading to further digestive complications.
#3 Alcohol – Consumption of alcohol on an empty stomach is nothing short of a health disaster. Intake of alcohol on an empty stomach straightaway takes the alcohol through the blood stream distributing it in the whole body which in turn widens the vessels which may result in a sharp decrease in pulse rate as well as blood pressure. The time taken for alcohol to travel to the brain is less than even a minute when consumed on an empty stomach.
#4 Yogurt – Avoid taking yogurt on an empty stomach as the latic acid in yogurt affects the body leading to acidity and indigestion.
#5 Tomatoes – Even though tomato has a lot of benefits and has high contents of Vitamin C and tannic acid, yet tomato is not recommended to be consumed on an empty stomach as the high acid content can lead to acidity and even painful gastric ulcers.
#6 Processed Sugar – Processed sugar can actually affect your liver as much as alcohol. Even though numerous cereal companies would have you believe otherwise, it is recommended to not take any such thing for breakfast which has processed sugar in it.
