The Information technology and Electronics (IT&E) Department of the West Bengal Government have decided to allot 150 acres of land in three different venues for setting up of electronic parks which would be hubs for setting up robotics, mobile phone, solar pane, and drone manufacturing units. The IT&E department has allotted lands for the three electronic parks at Naihati, Falta and Sonarpur. These lands will be allotted for a period of 99 years as a lease and can be renewed later for the same period based on terms and conditions. The land at Naihati is of 70 acres and it’s about an hour’s journey from Kolkata. The price of the land has been fixed at Rs 43 lakh per acre. Whereas the land at Sonarpur costs much higher, Rs 2.5 crore per acre for 10.7 acres of land. The rate for the land at Falta has been decided to be Rs 44.8 lakh per acre for 70 acres. Invitations for investors have already been given out by the state authorities. IT&E department officials reported that Webel has prepared a land allotment map for the three pieces of lands and site offices will soon be set up. These electronic parks would be well planned, with all necessary amenities like filtered water supply from a common underground reservoir, internal concrete roads, dedicated walkway, car parking facilities and 24-hour security arrangements present.
