IPL 2018 Player Retention Ceremony Held In Mumbai

IPL is not only a match for all but a package of perfect entertainment since the very beginning. This year in season 11 also this is not an exception and much before the auction the team managers have come up with a different strategy. The player retention ceremony was held today 4th January 2018 in Mumbai and the result gave all a mixed feeling altogether.

Not much surprise but definitely few bombshells are there in today’s event. So here we go with the player retention list.

  • Kolkata Knight Riders preferred to retain the two West Indian players Andre Russell and Sunil Narine
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore retained Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Sarfaraz Khan
  • Rajasthan Royals kept Steve Smith, the captain of Australia in their bag
  • Chennai Super Kings retained Ravinder Jadeja, M.S Dhoni and Suresh Raina
  • Kings XI Punjab kept in store one player from the previous team Axar Patel
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad retained Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and David Warner
  • Mumbai Indians thought of keeping their skipper Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah and the all-rounder player Hardik Pandya
  • Delhi Daredevils retained South African all-rounder Chris Morris, Batsman and Ranji Captain Shreyas Iyer, wicketkeeper Risabh Pant. Ricky Ponting, the former Australia team captain is now the coach for them.

Now, each team can have in their bag maximum of 25 players in which up to 8 overseas players are permissible. Board takes due stress to build up a seamless squad. No previous mistakes are to be repeated and it is quite obvious that all the team plans to come out with flying colours. We wish them all the luck for the auction ahead.
