International Kolkata Book Fair is all set to Begin

The Publishers and Book Sellers Guild held a press conference on the 19th January 2018 at Lalit Great Eastern on the ‘Highlights and Associations’ of the 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair where they informed in details about the most exciting upcoming event in Kolkata. The whole event was addressed by the General Secretary Tridib Kr. Chatterjee and Sudhangshu Dey, President was also present to grace the event.

Keeping France as the Focal Theme country, The International Kolkata Book Fair happening in the Central Park Ground shall have nine entry and exit gates which are replicas of the French architectures in India like, Chandannagar, Pondicherry etc. There will be three halls inside the book fair ground which are named after eminent personalities who passed away lately and had immense contributions literature, namely, Priyaranjan Das Munsi, Rabishankar Bal and Chandi Lahiri. The State Government shall provide 175 buses for special bus services during the Book Fair from Karunamoyee to various parts of the city besides the normal bus and auto availability. This is to facilitate book lovers from distant areas as well. In fact, one of the major reasons to select Central Park, Saltlake is even to let people from the outskirts access it by using the Bidhan Nagar Road station. Special parking space is made as well for people who plan to visit the fair by car.

Speaking of technology the ground shall have special Wi-Fi facilities for the publishers, media and the foreign guests visiting the Book Fair. Apart from that, the application which works for both IOS as well as normal android phones shall navigate the visitor to his/her desired stall once when installed from the Play Store.

29 countries have participated in the 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair which includes Russia, Colombia, Spain, Scotland, Australia, France, U.S.A, Guatemala and Bangladesh. Writers from all of them shall visit the fair and even conduct interactive sessions during the Literature Festival which is supposed to be conducted from the 8th – 10th February 2018. Ten writers from France, Five from Russia, Six from Spain and Colombia and apart from that around sixty five writers shall be present during the Literature Festival. Bangladesh Day is to be celebrated on 3rd February 2018 where three writers, Ministers and two singers shall be present. The France Day celebration shall even happen on the 31st January where the French Trio Scholars shall deliver the ‘Asoke Sarkar Memorial Lecture’ on ‘The Great History of Indian Literature in France.’ Children’s Day is to be held on the 5th February. One of the major attraction for the book lovers is Rs.10,000/- Book Gift Coupon which shall be distributed by the CESC every day. CESC has even decided to award the eminent legendary personality Mr. Soumitra Chatterjee with the title of ‘CESC Srishti Samman for being thr highest French award winner.

 There is a completely 360 degree change in the layout plan as compared to the Milan Mela Grounds. With 4.5 acres of land beautifully decorated, full-fledged ATM services, Pearless Hospital and Research Center Limited as the official Health Partner, 580 stalls and 200 little magazines the 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair is confident to have more visitors coming in this year.
