Indian Dental Association Celebrates Oral Hygiene Day

1st August is celebrated as the ‘Oral Hygiene Day’ by the Indian Dental Association at the Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital along with a bunch of other dental colleges across West Bengal.

The students are responsible for conducting occasional awareness programmes, putting up posters inside the campus. In order to educate the people about oral health, they have organised rallies and a special CDE( Continuing Dental Education ) course is also being organised by Dr. Nitin Dani, President, Indian Society of Periodontology.

The state branch of IDA is planning to set up free oral health camps in 25 different locations across West Bengal to ensure treatment for roughly 10, 000 people. The awareness programme will be organized at Fort Williams, in accordance with the Army Hospital to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Dr. G. B. Shankwalker, the pioneer of Indian Periodontics.

Dr. Biswas said, "We have been bestowed the 1st Prize by Indian Society of Periodontology last year. We have taken up various activities including free camps in a number of schools, orphanages across the state in association with numerous NGOs to uphold oral hygiene. We will dispense more than 10,000 kits like brush & toothpaste. A scientific programme has also been arranged."
