Good news for people who have their roots in the neighboring country of Bangladesh! After rail, road and air people can travel via water also. The Ministry of External Affairs announced that India and Bangladesh will start a cruise service through Sundarbans to Dhaka on Friday. The MEA joint secretary Vikram Doraiswami said,
We have inland waterway routes with the signing of a protocol on the use of a certain set of rivers. We are now going to start cruise services between India and Bangladesh from Friday. Essentially what will happen here is people would have the opinion to travel through the Sundarbans on a luxury vessel up to Dhaka and back with border formalities being done at the crossing points in both countries.
The government has already started the exchange of goods through the inland waterways. This way the movement is in the cheapest possible form to Narayanganj and Dhaka. As both countries have a really good bond and they also have very strong power connectivity, this new move will farther strengthen the relations between the two nations.
