The Majherhat Bridge collapse is causing massive traffic disruption on the Behala Thakur-pukur route. So, to ease the commuters of this inconvenience, the state's transport minister introduced more buses in existing and new routes.
The bus that ran till Tollygunge Metro through Tollygunge Phari will now go till Kalighat metro via the Tollygunge Circular Road. The number of buses running on this route would increase to 15 from 7. Buses on the M16 route between Behala Chowrasta and Tollygunge Metro Station will also increase from 20 to 30. To ensure that the dependency of the commuters on autos reduces; transport department also assigned two enforcement squads at Behala-New Alipore to ferry the commuters.
