The Kolkata and Suburban branches of Indian Dental Association (IDA) have arranged oral cancer awareness camps at 10 different places for a month to make people aware of oral cancer and other related ailments and how to deal with it. The Indian Dental Association, like every year, is observing 'Oral Cancer Awareness Month' which will continue till February 4. The main objective of this programme is to make people more aware of how to deal with or prevent various oral diseases. The IDA recently used Republic Day celebrations as a platform to reach out to people for sending a message to the society regarding oral health issues. The organization arranged free oral health care camps at places like Berhampore, Bhangarh, Anandapalit, Hooghly, Beniapukur, Daspur, Mandarmani, Budge Budge, Tangra and Mourigram on January 26. Dr. Raju Biswas, President of IDA Kolkata and the suburban Branch said, "With the alarming increase in tobacco consumption in the past few decades, oral cancer has become the most potential threat to mankind. The procedure to check the disease is simple but most people are not familiar with the facts. We hope to educate them with the pre-cancerous symptoms through these oral health care camps".
