Review: Shibpur is a Bengali gangster drama with a strong Bengali influence, showcasing competent acting by Swastika Mukherjee and Parambrata Chatterjee as the main leads. The film has a very thrilling exploration of the gore and brutality common in gangster flicks, with a strong Bengali influence. The film is expertly edited and beautifully photographed, with creepy background music that supports the story. Also, the location looks real. The film's main characters are Mandira as Swastika Mukherjee, Sultan Ahmed as Parambrata Chatterjee, Tapan Barik as Kharaj Mukhopadhyay, Mamata Shankar, and a dishonest local politician.

The film revolves around Mandira, played by Swastika, who delivers a realistic portrayal of the character. Parambrata, as Sultan Ahmed, is indomitable and delivers sharp, smart, and agile dialogue. Kharaj Mukhopadhyay, as Tapan Barik, delivers a disturbing performance as a deadly fishmonger and gang leader. Rajatavo Dutta's Nepal Bhattacharya is as ruthless as Tapan's, but with a civilised appearance.

The movie is rough, bloody, and not for the timid, exploring the gore and brutality that are common in gangster flicks without restraint. The movie is expertly edited and beautifully photographed, with a creepy background soundtrack that makes the places feel authentic. The two songs in this movie, Tara Jwole’ and ‘Jotobar Alo’, are effectively employed in the chaos of bloodshed, providing a calming atmosphere. The narrative is well developed.

In the modern atmosphere of the Tollywood industry, Shibpur Movie is a bit of an exception. It has been effective in abandoning any traditional Bengali elements in an effort to speak to a wider audience. The movie's challenging work and boldness are the keys to its success. Watching the movie on a big screen is satisfying. It is surely a must-watch movie.
