Heavy Rainfall Forecast In Bengal

Cyclone ‘Phethai’ is likely to bring heavy rainfall in many districts of Bengal. The Met Department issued a warning on the consequences of the cyclone which will be hitting Andhra Pradesh on Monday afternoon. South Bengal will be affected more as the air pressure system will move north-eastwards. East, West Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura, West Burdwan, Jhargram, and Hooghly can expect heavy rainfall, with wind speeds touching 30 to 40 km per hour. Also, a light drizzle is expected with an overcast sky in Kolkata. The squally winds will hit the coasts of Andhra, north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal moved further towards the coast as of Monday morning.
