Heatwave in Kashmir: The administration has ordered schools in Kashmir to remain closed until July 30th

In the Kashmir area heatwaves have been increasing over the past few years. But, this year the temperature has surpassed almost 33 degrees Celsius. For that, the local administration has decided to close schools in the Kashmir area. Schools will remain closed until July 30th. But this decision will apply only for classes up to the fifth grade. After almost 25 years, the temperature has risen this high in Kashmir.

The local administration announced that schools will be closed for children on the 29th and 30th of July, but this will only apply to students up to the fifth grade. Teachers and staff will still have to attend school as usual. This standing order applies to both government and private schools.

Typically, Kashmir's temperature stays below 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year, and during the heat of July, it ranges from a minimum of 6 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius. But, last Sunday, the temperature rose near 36 degrees Celsius. That is the highest in recent years. The last time the temperature reached 37 degrees Celsius was on July 9th, 1999, and in the year 1946, it reached 38.3 degrees Celsius.

This year, in major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, many people have died from heat strokes. While some cities are experiencing relief from the rains, the residents of Kashmir are still struggling with the heatwave situation.
