After being considered as the most polluted city in the world and giving a tough competition to the Capital City Delhi now it’s time for Kolkata to set the ‘Green Lines’ straight. The first ones to take up the initiative are the schools and colleges of the city. The students of the city are very much active in making the city greener.
The Presidency University, Jadavpur University, Calcutta Medical College, Techno India University, Rabindra Bharati University, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Indian Institute of Management (Calcutta) are the ones who have taken the step of making their campus greener so that they can contribute from their end in making the pollution content of the city lesser.
Rabindra Bharati University and Techno India University in fact maintain their own vegetable and flower garden and ensure that they do their little for the city. The students of the other colleges even are putting in effort and taking active part in lowering the city’s pollution. The Indian Institute of Management has their own club named ‘oikos’ who look after the greenery of the campus. They even organise various activities and games like Nature Treasure Hunt, in which clues are given about a tree and the students are supposed to guess it.
Such initiatives in the city of joy will actually help in making the city better for its people to live in.
