‘Rupashree’, Mamata Banerjee’s another dream project which aims to provide financial support to the marriages of under-privileged women, has rolled out. This scheme follows CM’s ambitious ‘Kanyashree’ project which has drawn global appreciation, in 2016.
In 28th March, Wednesday the application form of ‘Rupashree’ scheme has been made available for every West Bengal Citizen. In the latest ‘Rupashree’ scheme, any woman who wants to get this particular benefit has to fill the application form 3 months prior to her marriage. The form needs to be submitted to the Municipal office or Block Development officer (BDO) to get the Government scheme benefit. An amount of 25,000 will be credited to person’s bank account before the marriage. To apply for this form the women must be a permanent resident of West Bengal, she has to be above 18 years of age and their annual family income must not exceed Rs 1.5 lakh. The application process is likely to start online very soon, within months, as per our source. Rs 1,500 crore has been reserved for this notable project.
The BDO officer said, ‘No minimum educational qualifications are required to apply for the scheme.’ The application form for ‘Rupashree Prakalpa’ is available at the BDO, SDO and Municipal Office. He also added, “Through Rupashree and Kanyashree schemes, the education rate of the girls will increase”. ‘Rupashree’ will benefit 6 lakh woman who belong to the economically poor families.
