Neeraj Chopra won gold in the Tokyo Olympics. That was the first time he had won gold in his category at the Tokyo Olympics. In the first throw, Neeraj threw the javelin at a distance of 87.03 meters and grabbed first place. He then improved his performance on the next throw.
The same thing happened this time. He snatched the gold medal at the World Athletics Championship with his impeccable skill. Through this, his journey to the Paris Olympics will be smoother.
In the final, Neeraj’s first throw was a foul. However, in his second throw, Neeraj threw the javelin at a distance of 88.17 meters and threw a challenge to the opponent. Just as in the qualification phase, he threw the javelin at a distance of 88.77 meters and won the competition with just one throw.
The other two Indian javelin throwers in contention—Kishore Jena and DP Manu—also produced impressive performances even as they couldn’t secure podium spots. Both throwers qualified for the top-8 positions and finished fifth and sixth, respectively. While Jena had the highest registered throw of 84.77m (also his personal best), Manu threw 84.14m.
Naturally, the whole country is congratulating him on his success. Former legendary cricketers also congratulated him.
Kapil Dev, Gautam Gambhir, and Virender Sehwag congratulated Neeraj.
‘The golden boy’s race is on’, the former captain who brought the 1983 World Cup to India said to Neeraj.
Biru says, “Fenko to aysa fenko ki char log bale kya fekta hai yaar. 88.17 meters dur vala fenka.”
Former opener Gautam Gambhir also congratulated Neeraj. He said, “The son of diamonds has won gold”.
