Harish Magon is no more! Veteran Actor Harish Magon passed away on Saturday, June 1, in Mumbai, at the age of 76. He was best known for his role in the classic comedy film ‘Gol Maal’. Though the exact cause of death is not known, it is believed that he passed away due to age-related issues.
The Cine And TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) posted the news on Twitter and wrote, "CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Harish Magon (Member since JUNE. 1988)."
Harish Magon was born in 1946 in Mumbai. In 1974, he graduated from the esteemed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He then joined the world of acting. Harish Magon was survived by his loving wife, Pooja Magon, along with their son Siddharth and daughter Aarushi.
Magon has starred in many big-banner movies and shared screen space with actors like Sanjeev Kumar, Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, and Amitabh Bachchan, among others. He has starred in many popular movies like ‘Shehenshah’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Shikandar’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Satte pe Satta’, ‘Namak Halal', and many more. The ‘Gol Maal’ actor was last seen in director Vipin Handa's 1997 movie 'Uff! Yeh Mohabbat', starring Twinkle Khanna, Abhishek Kapoor, and Anupam Kher.
Later, In 1997, Harish Magon founded his own acting institute, ‘Harish Megan Acting Institute’, located in Juhu, Mumbai, where he shared his expertise with aspiring actors. Also, he became an instructor at Roshan Taneja's acting school.
The Bollywood industry is mourning the death of the remarkable artist Harish Magon. His enduring contributions will continue to inspire aspiring actors and leave a lasting impact on 70s and 80s Bollywood movies.
