God of Cricket answers the prayers of football fans!

Despite Kerala Cricket Association's (KCA) desperate attempts to host the India-West Indies one-day International in November in Kochi, cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar, on Tuesday, said hosting the match in Kochi can be detrimental for the Fifa approved world-class football turf.

Instead of Kochi' Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, which hosted the U-17 football World Cup, Sachin wants Thiruvananthapuram to host the ODI cricket match of India-West Indies on 1st November. Tendulkar has shared his concern about the potential damage to the Fifa approved football turf in Kochi, in his twitter account.

Tendulkar has apparently taken up the matter with BCCI.

“Urged Shri Vinod Rai who has promised to look into the matter. Hoping that neither the cricket nor the football fans are disappointed” he wrote on his social media.

Even the likes of Shashi Tharoor, shared their concern on KCA's move. Tharoor, MP of Thirvananthapuram, said that he had his discussions with the authoritiews regarding this sudden “bizzare” move by KCA.

“Turf laid for top-class footbal would have to be dug up, while a cricket-ready SportsHub stadium in Trivandrum, the best in India, lies idle. Who gains from this suspect decision?” tweeted Tharoor.
