Former Indian domestic cricketer, Gour Ghosh, who represented Bengal and the Jharkhand First-Class teams during his career, passed away on 8th July.
Gour Ghosh was a right handed batsman and a wicketkeeper by his trade in the cricket field. He had a First Class career that spanned over a decade during the 1960s. He represented the Bengal side and the Jharkhand side in a cumulative of 17 First Class matches between 1960 and 1971.
After retiring from the game, he continued to serve in the capacity of a mentor to many in the cricket circuit. He was one of the junior team selectors of Bengal in the years 2005-06 and 2006-07. Gour Ghosh passed away at the age of 77.
“We convey our solace to the bereaved family and pray to the almighty for eternal peace to his departed soul,” CAB joint-secretary Subir Ganguly said in his condolence message. Gour Ghosh scored 266 runs at 20.46 with a highest score of 60. He effected 29 dismissals to his name.
