Foreign currency smuggled inside eatables

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has recently seized foreign currency worth Rs 45 Lakhs from a passenger at the Delhi Airport. The CISF shortly reported about the seizure due to its uncommon method of currency smuggling. The foreign currency notes were hidden in cooked meat pieces, peanuts and sealed biscuit packets while they were being smuggled. CISF searched and found five hundred and eight crisp foreign currency notes from the eatables. The currency notes were Saudi Riyals, Qatari Riyals, Kuwaiti Dinars, Omani Riyals and Euros. Murad Ali, 25 was carrying these notes on his way to Dubai. Ali was arrested by CISF from Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport due to his suspicious behaviour. He was on his way to board an Air India flight to Dubai before he landed up in CISF’s custody. CISF spokesperson Assistant Inspector General Hemendra Singh said, "On checking the passenger's baggage, foreign currency was found concealed in cooked mutton pieces, peanuts, biscuit packets and other eatables. This is a unique and peculiar way of concealing foreign currency for smuggling”. Ali had a valid tourist visa for Dubai and he had earlier made multiple visits to Dubai and other foreign locations. Both the detained and the currency notes have been handed over to the Customs for further investigation.
