The inauguration of a number of flyovers and elevated corridors in Kolkata is likely to enhance the traffic condition from this year. The proposed and almost ready flyovers would help improve the congestion and help in saving travel time. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s vision of an upgraded Bengal with better connectivity and transport facility would soon be a reality. The most-awaited project is the 1.1 km ramp connecting the Maa flyover to the AJC Bose Road flyover, scheduled to be completed by the end of January and open for public access by March. The Maa flyover would offer a 9-Km seamless drive from the EM Bypass through the AJC Bose Road flyover to the racecourse.
The other project that Kolkata is waiting for is the Jinjira bazar flyover which is 6.8 Km long, the second largest flyover in the city. This would provide an uninterrupted drive from Taratala Road to Budge Budge, and is likely to be inaugurated by March.
A few more projects would also be undertaken, with KMDA exploring a few more possibilities like the proposed flyover from Ultadanga to Girish Park and the one from Dhakuria to Jadavpur Sulekha crossing and another at Sector V, over College More.
