Bollywood actor Santanu Maheshwari found himself at the Cannes Film Festival, a milestone he hadn't anticipated reaching at the age of 33. His dream came true with the release of the poster for his film "Love in Vietnam" and his presence at the festival with five other films.
Reflecting on his experience, Santanu admitted to initially doubting that his film's poster would ever grace the Cannes Film Festival. He described the international stage as daunting, confessing to trembling with fear at his debut. Yet he expressed eternal gratitude to a higher power for the opportunity.
For Santanu, the festival ground became a space of personal growth and positivity. Attending the Cannes Film Festival, he realised the significance of the event in elevating one's spirit. The day of the poster release saw contributions from various sponsors and supporters from diverse countries. Ending the day with a Bollywood dance, he enchanted the audience alongside leading actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Kiara Advani.
The film's director, Rahat Kazmi, disclosed to the media that this collaboration marks the first-ever cinematic venture between India and Vietnam. Until now, neither India nor Vietnam had ventured into cultural exchanges. "Love in Vietnam" kickstarts this endeavour, narrating a tale of love flourishing beyond borders. Shooting for the film is set to commence in June, with Sabahattin Ali penning the screenplay.
Santanu Maheshwari's journey from Bollywood to Cannes and the collaboration between India and Vietnam in cinema set a precedent for cultural exchange and storytelling beyond geographical confines.
