Prithviraj Kapoor's youngest son, Shashi Kapoor is known for his charm and romanticism. The actor himself is an era, a generation. Doing films of all genres, Shashi Kapoor wore and flaunted multiple feathers on his hat. Not just an actor, the Kolkata born was even a theatrician, a producer and is a bilingual actor. Not only was he honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Indian Government but he is the only Kapoor, of the Kapoor family to bag the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 2015. Balbir Prithviraj Kapoor aka Shashi Kapoor however, was one of the best looking actors in the Bollywood Industry. He had the ability to captivate generations with his handsome looks and his breath taking acting chops.
Its a known fact that the actor was Born in the city of joy. But the romantic icon of the 60's and 70's had a different emotional connection with the city. Kolkata still has a room named “Shashi Kapoor Room” at the Fairlawn Hotel. Previously called Room No. 17 is now a ground of memories of the veteran actor. Fairlawn is the place where Shashi Kapoor had stayed with his wife Jennifer Kendal right after their marriage. The actor’s last visit at the hotel was in the year 2005.
No wonder Kolkata mourned so hard after he passed away. But, no matter where he is, Shashi Kapoor and his memories shall always remain intact at the Fairlawn Hotel. It shall remain the only place in the city where Shashi Kapoor lovers can always visit whenever they want to feel the presence of their most loved actor.
