Reshma Nilofer Naha- can take up any challenge without any fear. Reshma is the first woman marine Pilot in India. The Jiyo Bangla team conversed with her to understand her amazing journey and her exciting professional life. Though it was a tough call to take up marine technology, but that’s what life is- it’s tough and beautiful.
So we asked her a few questions.
1.First of all, our hearty congratulation for becoming the first female Marine Pilot in India. How does this achievement feel?
-I trained for almost 7 years to achieve this post. It has been around 2 months since qualified as a pilot, which happened in January 2018. The fruits of success are always sweet and I am elated to be in this position.
2.What made you choose this off-beat career? Why not go for a ‘safe’ job like- IT or Bank?
-Trust me, I didn’t want a safe job. Challenging myself every day and setting a benchmark is my motto. I want my work to be exciting, that the most important thing for me.
3.What do you think is the most important quality that a Marine Pilot should have?
-This job requires both physical fitness and mental acumen as well. You have to be mentally strong.
4.What do you do to relax after a strenuous day?
- I click pictures and cook. I am very much active on social media. The truth is, I love my job and it’s never strenuous for me. I love what I do.
5.What is your mantra in life?
-I have this favorite quote- ‘Success is never final and failure never fatal. Its courage that counts.’ Speaking about mantra, just be the best version of yourself.
