Electric Vehicles To Get Charging Facility

A formal proposal of installation of charging stations is being made to the CESC Ltd. so that electric cars may be charged in the parking lots under flyovers. Although the number of electric vehicles (EVs) plying on Kolkata road is significantly low, the number might increase soon as auto manufacturers would be introducing more electric cars. In an effort to curb the imminent threat to the detrimental effect on the atmosphere, a rapid switch from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric cars would be made. According to the proper estimation, CESC would take 130 charging stations to make up for the entire Kolkata road, with the stations being set up at 5 sqkm distance apart. It would take around Rs 25 lakh to set up each station as per the study of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
