The Election Commission is all set to conduct the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Bengal to be held in Bongaon, Barrackpore, Howrah, Uluberia, Sreerampore, Hooghly and Arambagh. The commission in order to conduct a fair and peaceful election has made it sure to have 100 percent deployment of Central Forces in all the polling booths with a total deployment of 580 companies of the central forces. These seven parliamentary constituencies consist of 1, 16, 91,889 voters. Polling will be conducted in 13,290 booths across 7,691 polling locations of the seven parliamentary constituencies with the total number of candidates being 83, with 12 female candidates among them. Apart from this, by-elections will also be conducted in the Uluberia East Assembly constituency with total number of voters there being 2,20,397. An Election Commission official said, "The Central Forces will be in charge of security in all the booths and the state armed police will be responsible for maintaining law and order and management of queues of voters. There will be no state force inside the polling booths". In addition to the Central Forces, there will be 142 quick response teams (QRT), which will be patrolling in these seven constituencies to look after any irregularities, if it takes place. The Election Commission will also be monitoring the voting process through webcasting. Special Police Observer Vivek Dubey said, “We are hopeful of peaceful elections. There will be Central Forces in all booths as well as adequate QRTs".
