E-learning for Pre-primary section of Government Schools

E-content for the primary section was already ready. Now the content for pre-primary section has been readied. Primary section teachers now would be trained in how those would be utilised to teach young minds.

The facility would begin in all government schools of the state and thus pre-primary teachers would need to undergo a three-day training at the end of this month. It has been requested that at least two teachers from all schools should partake in the training programme.

At present there are three books for the pre-primary session – Katum Kutum, Bihan and Mojaru. Sources said that content based on these three books have been prepared. Experts said that these tech-based method of imparting education will bring the characters alive in a class making the process of learning more fun for youngsters. The subject matters will be shown in class on screen through projectors and an audio-visual presentation. The expert committee had prepared the content for the primary section as well and it was intended to show them through a DVD player but it did not materialise owing to certain technicalities.

Sources at the education department said that schools have been given special projectors and the content developed by the syllabus committed would be loaded in this projector. Chairman of the syllabus committee, Avik Majumder said that after having a word with the education minister the preparations had been made so that e-learning could be introduced in the pre-primary stage itself.

Content of the three books have been uploaded on ‘Banglar Siksha’, the portal of state education department. It has been made public for anyone to have a look at the content. Sources said that only government school teachers would be trained because the programmes is being aimed at improving infrastructure of government schools which have been given financial aid to put up smart classes.

Again, from March 25-27, primary teachers of government schools too would be trained by experts. Along with e-learning, some more books will be introduced in the pre-primary session from the next academic year.

Teachers have welcomed the decision saying that the move will keep children ahead of things right from the beginning and the breaking the monotony of conventional studies will help them in grasping the subject well.
