Mid December saw Bengal Beach Festival held in Digha, which was in similar lines to Sunburn in Goa. The main attractions were hot-air balloons, water sports, camp fire, beach volleyball, food festival, luxury tents for tourists etc.
East Midnapore district magistrate Rashmi Kamal, said the chief minister had announced in July that Digha and its neighbouring beaches would be developed to attract international tourists.
She also added that the chief minister had said Digha would be developed into a tourist spot of international standard. Keeping this in mind, we have organised the Bengal Beach Festival this year.
The luxury tents have been brought from Jaipur and the tariff for the air-conditioned tents would be Rs 7,500 per day. The helicopter rides will cost Rs 2,000 per head for a 20-minute spin, the officials said.
