Just as we put trust on our elder sister, Bengal entrusted our very own beloved Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and today she is aptly known by ‘Didi’ all over the nation. As she turns 64, she still maintains a publicly austere lifestyle and continues to work for the people. Believing in the policy of ‘Maa, Maati, Manush’ she brought about a revolution in the development of Bengal with her party All India Trinamool Congress. Joining politics at a tender age of 15, she had to go through a lot of struggle and besides her studies, she used to provide tuitions in order to support herself. She graduated with an honours degree in history from Jogamaya Devi College, followed by a master’s degree in Islamic history from the University of Calcutta. And to glorify her vast educational background, she achieved a degree in education from Shri Shikshayatan College and a law degree from Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College. Apart from being astounding literati, she is also a painter and poet. Although she may be 64 today, she is still a workaholic, a visionary, and loves to be active in the hope of achieving her dream of a perfect ‘Bengal’ and India. Serving her second term as the honorable Chief Minister of Bengal, the first woman to be assigned the post, has and will always lead India to a better tomorrow.
As our Didi turns 64 today, Team JIYO BANGLA wishes her a long and healthy life to lead us into an even better tomorrow.
