The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) finally took the initiative to chop down the dead and dried trees in Rabindra Sarobar this Monday. The trees were damaged by fungus and termite and served no purpose. The weak branches of the tress were falling down frequently which can be prone to accident for the visitors. With no options left, KMDA forcefully took this decision for the welfare of its visitors.
Some daily visitors protested against this decision requesting the authority to wait until the season of monsoon arrives as there may be some chances for the trees to regenerate its strength. However the majority of the members of Lake Lover Association were supporting this initiative to uproot the trees as it may serve as a risk to the people and the children visiting the park.
