Darjeeling opened the country's first-ever cycle trail for enthusiasts who yearn for an experience that's free from the adulteration of city chaos. Darjeeling became the first hill station in India to get a mountain biking park along a 20-km stretch through the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary. The route, opened on 1st January, runs from near Jore bunglow, south of Darjeeling, to Chatakpur, a small eco-village resort. Bicycle was not a common mode of transport in the mountains but like the rest of the country, mountain biking is fast catching up in the hills too, said Sangay Sherpa, the director of Off Road Adventure, which organised the mountain bike rally.
