Cleanliness correlates to vegetarianism

Recently it has been suggested by the Railway Board to serve no non-vegetarian meals in trains or in the vicinity for three consecutive years on days of 2nd October to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Gandhi’s birthday. The day would be celebrated as “Vegetarian Day”. Every 2nd October, the passengers would be able to relish only vegetarian food. Not only in trains, but also in the stalls in Railway platform, this rule is applicable. Once this suggestion gets passed by majority, the day would be twice celebration, firstly for Rashtriya Swacchata Diwas and secondly for Vegetarian Day.

To add to that, Indian Railways have decided to conduct a salt rake starting from Sabarmati in order to honour the unfathomable efforts taken by the great figure in times of Indian independence. The train, so far named, Swacchata train would travel places associated with the life of Gandhi. Tickets would also have his image printed on them to create a special effect. In administrative jointures of railways and in railway museums in several places, there would be planted murals and paintings of Gandhi. In fact, a special logo is also to come out which would be visible beside the seat numbers and on the bodies of the coaches.

Everything could be framed into action once the Ministry of Culture approves of the plan. In the beginning of May, President Ram Nath Kovind has presided over the first meeting along with the National Committee to check on the plans and management of the programmes that has so far been decided upon.
