Chicken and eggs won’t spread Coronavirus, says the poultry farm owners shattering the rumours which stated that coronavirus can spread through consumption of chicken and eggs. Poultry farm owners of the state of Odisha have dismissed the idea that the Covid-19 virus can spread through chicken and eggs. All Odisha Poultry Forum (AOPF) and All Odisha Layer Farmers Association (AOLFA) have reached out to the people of the state and the country and requested them to stop believing in those rumours. Harmohan Das, AOPF president said, “Some miscreants have started sharing a fake message which says that people may get infected if they eat chicken and eggs. But it is completely false and baseless information. Not a single organization including the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that people will get infected with coronavirus if they eat chicken and eggs”. Das reported how these rumours have affected their means of living and that thousands of poultry farmers are facing loss. He added, “We were selling a life bird at around Rs 70, but now we have to sell it between Rs 35-40 per one life bird. It is a huge loss for thousands of poultry farmers in Odisha due to lack of demand”. These poultry farm owners requested the common mass to not believe in these rumours blindly and to continue eating chicken and eggs like before till doctors suggest otherwise.
