Around 17 lakh students will be appearing for the Board examinations this year, from all over West Bengal, out of which 8% or 1.4 lakh students are from Kolkata.
CESC has promised a problem free exam season to the ones appearing for their Board exams this year. They have been promised uninterrupted electricity supply not only during the exams but even at home during their study hours. A dozen small generators and eight large ones have been placed in various parts of Howrah and Kolkata which assures unhindered power supply.
Avijit Ghosh, the Vice-President of CESC said that steps have been taken for proper distribution and uninterrupted power supply during the entire examination period. Officers shall continuously command and monitor the voltage and transformer load. Apart from these measures, more than 150 radio-fitted vans shall be placed all around, which would operate 24X7.
The preparation for this uninterrupted service during the Board examinations began way back in the month of November and continued till February.
In these two months the transformers and the networks have been fixed, cables have been replaced and trees have been trimmed in places where overhead supply was required. Most places in Howrah and Kolkata are facilitated with underground pockets and power cables while places like Jadavpur, Behala, Budge Budge, Topsia, Metiabruz, Sankrail and Maheshtala have overhead power lines.
Avijt Ghosh, the Vice-President of CESC has promised a disturbance free exam season to the students. Let's hope he keeps his promises.
