The world’s oldest continuously updated and published encyclopedia, Britannica turned 250. The highly esteemed encyclopedia continues to be published in both the hardcover form and digital format. For some fortunate Kolkata citizens, it is considered a prized possession as the vintage hardcover volumes signifies nostalgia. The company shifted its printing medium, relying heavily on digital format for promotion. The responsibility lies with the publishers to provide accurate and updated information, so that the people are not fed with misinformation. Kunal Sen, the chief technology development officer at Encyclopedia Britannica has been handling the responsibility for 20 years. He feels a proper compilation of the information is required and it is a challenge for them to provide the younger generation with ‘well-written’ and proofread articles and information.
