Bhojpuri (a dialect of Hindi) is the language spoken mostly by people residing in western Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. However, people from these areas have over the years migrated to different parts of India as well as the world and carried their rich cultural traditions and sweetness of their native language along with them.
Bengal is no exception and is home away from home to more than 2 crores of people speaking Bhojpuri. There was a long felt need amongst these people to express their love for their regional films through some organized events. Therefore, this year Bhojpuri Nav Yubak Sangh, Howrah has collaborated with ‘Screen & Stage’ to bring to Bengal the First Chapter of the “Bhojpuri Cinema Awards”. This Mega Event was announced today in a conference held tonight in Hotel Hindustan International. The event was presented by the ever charming RJ Rakesh of the famed ‘RJ Rakesh & Pragya’ duo in the presence of superstar Ravi Kishen along with Vikas Singh, Arun Ojha, Kajal Raghwani, Pankaj Pandey, Vved Tiwari and Mritunjay Pandey. It was announced that the Mega awards ceremony will be held on 5th of May, 2018 at the Netaji Indoor Stadium where awards will be presented in 15 different categories to eminent contributors to the Bhojpuri Film Industry.
On this occasion, Ravi Kishen said that “for the 1st time in Kolkata the whole of the Bhojpuri film fraternity will be present and the show will be a historic one. I thank the Chief Minister of Bengal Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal Government and the police for their co-operation and the helping hand they have extended to us”.
